About this deal

A wintery middle grade mystery collection of short stories by thirteen of the most exciting and diverse authors in children's books today! Join Ali and her sister Tulip – or, the Double Detectives, as they’re also known – as they investigate who has stolen the presents from the children’s grotto at the local hospital. Hold your breath as Evie and her brother Ulric enter their Aunty’s house to feed her cat, and find something they weren’t quite expecting… and try to avoid biting your nails as Arjun witnesses a neighbourhood crime whilst recovering at home from having his tonsils out. I knew this book would be great just by seeing Robin Stevens name on it. My daughter has read and loved all her Murder most unladylike books. The Very Merry Murder Club is a brilliant new anthology, featuring short stories from a range of top authors!'- Booktrust

Secondary Col 3 Anthologies for KS3 to KS5 English White Rose Maths Secure Science for GCSE Reimagine KS3 English KS3 Science Now Collins Classroom Classics I feel mean rating this so poorly as I am not the target audience but I don't think most of these stories lived up to the promise of festive childlike mysteries. Many of them had annoying characters and boring plots and I only finished it for a book club where most were in agreement. I was quite looking forward to reading this anthology, but I think an expectation mismatch meant that it ended up being quite disappointing overall. From the title, I was expecting 13 murder mysteries, but I didn't even get 13 mysteries. Instead I got maybe 9 mysteries (and 4 murders) and some adventures that didn't even have a mystery with a crime to solve at the heart (but had riddles or just strange events instead.) Maybe a different title and a better description of the stories would have helped. Nizrana Farook was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where the beautiful landscapes of the country have inspired her novels, The Girl Who Stole an Elephant and The Boy Who Met a Whale.

It’s another Bookwagon day in our house. The kids were so excited to get their latest books in the post.

There are secrets hidden beneath the ice . . . bring the magic home in the frosty fourth instalment of the bestselling Pinch of Magic Adventures, from the award-winning Michelle Harrison. Join them as part of the Very Merry Murder Club as they lead you on a snow-covered wintery journey of festive foul play and murderously magnificent mysteries! Wow that looks awesome! I loved reading the Crime Club’s Mystery and Mayhem. All the short stories were just as good as full sized ones! Maybe one day, the short stories will be turned into novels… SERENA PATEL was shortlisted for the Asian Writer Short Story Prize and was a finalist in the Undiscovered Voices Anthology 2018. Her debut children’s series Anisha Accidental Detective won the fiction category of the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Awards, being shortlisted for a British Book Award and the Blue Peter Prize 2021 and selected for The Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge. Serena lives in Walsall with her family. Co-edited by Serena Patel, the award-winning author of theAnisha: Accidental Detectiveseries and by Robin Stevens, author of the bestsellingMurder Most Unladylikeseries.Wow, this is so exciting! I can’t wait for it to come out as there are some great author contributing. Co-edited by Serena Patel, the award-winning author of the Anisha: Accidental Detective series and by Robin Stevens, author of the bestselling Murder Most Unladylike series. The Frostwilds by Dominique Valente was a creepy but delightful fairytale with echoes of The Snow Queen and The Hunger Games fantastically paced and creative Diversity has clearly been a priority when selecting authors for this book, and it is very much a strength of the finished piece. It's definitely not at the cost of quality though. Every single one of these authors is there on their own merit and they have all produced really excellent stories. For every bigot and racist who's ever said "Well, they should write their own books then!" here is proof that they can and do. It's absolutely a joy to see the wealth of diverse talent we currently have working in middle grade fiction showcased like this.

It only takes one strike! A powerful feminist reworking of the Hans Christian Andersen classic, from bestselling and award-winning creators Emma Carroll and Lauren Child.

About This Edition ISBN: I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! We go from suspicious ski slopes to a silent window watch on neighbours. There are scenes of subterfuge in the woods, and then a snowy death outside a guest house. Then again, there’s a stealthy game of Scrabble with serial killers, alongside a dodgy dance competition decision!
