The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K retains the beautifully crafted design and machined aluminum chassis of the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Simply rotate the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera to shoot vertical aspect ratios such as 9:16 and 4:5. The external controls give you quick access to essential functions, while the large 5 inch touchscreen makes it easy to frame shots, focus accurately and change camera settings.

Designed as the most advanced ultra portable studio camera, this model has the features of the Studio Camera 4K G2 Pro model plus a larger 6K sensor, EF lens mount and remote controllable ND filters.With standard connections and an internal battery inside a beautiful machined aluminum design, you can be confident that the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K will easily handle the rigors of location work! This model includes all the features of the 5 inch model, but has a much larger 7 inch screen, 2 SD Card slots so recording can continue when a card becomes full and 2 mini XLR audio inputs. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera features a large, bright 5 inch touchscreen that makes it easy for you to frame shots and accurately focus. Professional 4K production camera features large Super 35 size sensor with professionalglobal shutter, EF mount optics and high quality ProRes 422 (HQ) file recording.

When using the Cinema or Pocket Camera, filmmakers will still see the same wobbly image from time to time as they would if they were shooting with a DSLR. The wide dynamic range of the Super 35 size sensor can be mapped into the quantizing range of the file, so you can color grade shots with greater detail in highlights and shadows. With a large Super 35 size sensor you get familiar framing and behavior from the lenses you already own!The Blackmagic cameras are not designed for low-light photography, which is why the Speed Booster is so valuable on the Pocket Camera (you can also use it on the Cinema Camera). The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K can record at up to 60 frames per second in 4K and up to a massive 120 frames per second for windowed HD. If you really want to see your exterior shots you may find you have to add an extension onto this hood or use the focusing cloth trick from the old view camera days.

Features dual subwoofer design, 12G-SDI input for SD, HD and Ultra HD support, balanced XLR audio, AES/EBU and RCA HiFi audio inputs. UHD will give you plenty of growing pains all by itself, the first of which is getting a 4K monitor. Award winning DP Overton used URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF and Pocket Cinema Camera 4K digital film cameras to shoot season two of “Killing It”.are highly compressed, plus add noise and weird artifacts, causing original sensor detail to be lost forever. It also saves camera settings as metadata so you can set ISO, white balance and exposure in camera or override them later while editing, all without any loss of quality! You also get full control over advanced camera features such as on screen focus and exposure tools, 3D LUTs, HDR, metadata entry, timecode, Blackmagic RAW settings and more! I haven’t yet used the camera enough to review it in any depth, but I thought this summary of its pros and cons might be useful to those out there considering their own purchase.
