About this deal

That alone is super goofy, as it would be nigh impossible to know if you were related to someone that long dead, but whatever. I found Black Adam mildly entertaining, and I went into it with fairly low expectations but rooting for it to be a success and prove the critics wrong. We learn next to nothing about this group and even though we’re introduced to four DCEU superheroes, none of them are really fleshed out and the most interesting of the bunch is killed off. He takes out tons of mercenaries and then battles against the Justice Society and then fights more mercenaries and then fights the Justice Society again and finally, in the very end, faces the powerful demon king villain in a fight that can only go one way.

Much of the film centers around the mercenary group Intergang trying to find the Crown of Sabbac, a legendary relic made out of Eternium that can unleash untold powers of the underworld. It is also fun to see the star reap the success of his efforts and get his own action figure, like many other superhero actors have.

Hot Toys are thrilled to introduce the new collectible figure from the DX series, the Black Adam Sixth Scale Figure featuring Black Adam based on the movie of the same title. Following the recent release of Black Adam's trailer, featuring Johnson as well as a sneak-peek at the Justice Society of America, fan anticipation for the project has started to increase. I have seen some audience reviews that proclaim they love the film because it isn’t “woke” and doesn’t shove a message down your throat. Kenzari’s character and final form possibly draw inspiration from this version created by Judd Winick and Todd Raney that fought The Outsiders. are even stronger – Karnes, it turns out, is the former foster brother of none other than Freddy Freeman, aka Captain Marvel Jr.

The descriptions also said Sabbac’s figure would be a 15-17 inch Megafig so this is a big one for the collector’s shelf. Pretty CGI and endless action sequences might be good enough for the uncritical moviegoing masses, but we’ve seen all of this before. In the post above, the first image comes with concept art of how Marwan Kenzari looks playing Sabbac and he is literally devilish.I’m grateful the film was only 2 hours long, but even those two hours felt longer than they should have. The upcoming film, based on the popular DC Comics character of the same name, follows its titular anti-hero who finds himself freed almost 5,000 years after receiving powers from the Egyptian gods and being abruptly restrained, only to now unleash his own form of justice on the world. Pitting Shazam and his goofy humor up against someone with similar powers who has no compunction about killing would have been far more interesting than the bland story here. This toy reveal makes it looks as though Sabbac will be the villain in the upcoming Black Adam movie.

He has stated that he is " 100% committed to not only Black Adam, but then expanding the Black Adam universe and the DC universe," and that he is listening to fans and the project is giving them what they want. Cyclone and her cool nano-bot powers are touched on only briefly, and Atom Smasher is included apparently just to be the butt of various jokes.

Black Adam takes out the Big Bad about as easily as the good citizens of Khandaq stomp his mookish minions. It’s not clear yet how the character or Kenzari fit into the film but considering the figure’s measurements and that Sabbac can grow to a colossal size and breathe fire, it is highly likely the demon man turns into a daikaiju that Black Adam and the Justice Society have to take down. Upon seeing the global reaction to the trailer, he took to social media to thank the fans for their support and touched on his passion for Black Adam, iterating that the movie was 10 years in the making. Back in October 2020, The Illuminerdi reported rumors that Black Adam producers were eyeing Marwan Kenzari for the role of Sabbac in Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DC antihero film. Now, The Rock's love of Black Adam is on full display again in a new video posted to his Instagram, showing the star interacting with press at Warner Bros.

And with demonic horns and a pentagram scratched into his chest, there’s no mistaking which side of good or evil this guy is on. When other superheroes go to stop Black Adam because he’s too powerful for the world, you know they won’t be able to unless he intentionally gives up. He freed his people from the king of Kahndaq before grief over the loss of his family turned to cold fury, and he was entombed for his vengeful actions. I like The Rock and I think he does a fine job here (though it’s weird that the ancient champion of Khandaq doesn’t have an accent). In the end, the group itself feels more like a joke than anything we should take seriously, and even that falls flat given we know next to nothing about any of these heroes. And hey, I’m totally fine with movies not shoving political messages down our throats, but the absence of that does not a good film make. At the time of this writing, 39% of critics vs 90% of normal viewers liked this movie, though the way Rotten Tomatoes keeps track of reviews muddies things a bit.
