About this deal

It seems a shame that the publishers think they have to put a cover like this to attract readers. I would respect them more if they were more like the protagonist, Zott, herself, and make no such marketing compromises. But hey, their job is to sell b I loved this novel, I’m still crying. A truly beautiful book that captures the meaning of parental love in all its forms. I highly recommend this book to all my book groups. *****’ I Can’t Wait For . . . Find You First by Linwood Barclay @linwoodbarclay @harpercollinsca #FindYouFirst #LinwoodBarclay #BooksofHCC I remember when I saw the movie Sophie’s Choice, and I sat there watching Meryl Streep making the most critical decision of her life during that pivotal scene. It was as if I stopped breathing because time stopped during that moment – in my mind. I think the whole theatre was in silence with me.

Historical fiction fans, rejoice! A new voice has entered the arena and she's one to watch. A heartrending story told from the perspectives of two families living very different lives, it is also one of hope amid tragedy. Perfectly paced and plotted, and evocatively written - Woman & Home Una novela con una primera mitad más light de lo que supuse por la sinopsis y un último 50% mucho más potente. A heartbreaking and emotional read based around WW2. Absolutely fantastic. I have no hesitation in giving this 5 stars *****’ While the first half of the book focuses on the historical aspect of 1944, the second half of the book plays out almost a decade later and is more of a family drama.

This book was beautiful - a book on love and courage demonstrated in different ways, showing that there is no one way to love or be brave. I was unable to stop reading *****' Goodreads reviewer Jean-Luc Beauchamp’s is a railway worker and is sent to work in Bobigny, doing maintenance work near the transit camp Drancy. When he meets Sarah, who has been taken by the Nazi and she is on her way to the camp. She fears for her life not only for herself, but for her baby Samuel. She meets Jean-Luc and decides he is a caring man and persuades him to take her baby. Jean-Luc is apprehensive at first but agrees. This action takes him in all sorts of danger crossing the Pyrenees mountains with Charlotte who decides to go with him. It was 1944 in Paris and Jean-Luc Beauchamp had been working with the French Railway Department since he left school at fifteen. Now the Germans had taken it over, and working at Bobigny right next to the camp, Drancy, was becoming too much for Jean-Luc and his fellow workers to bear. They knew the trains would be filled with the Jews who were being moved to special camps, but that’s all Jean-Luc would let his mind dwell on. Until the morning that a young woman prisoner broke away and thrust something in Jean-Luc’s hands. She begged him to keep him safe – the baby was only a month old. What was Jean-Luc going to do with a baby? Made me think and cry and rage and smile at mankind’s capacity for both terrible, heartbreaking cruelty and beautiful, selfless love’ NATASHA LESTER A young woman’s future is torn away in a heartbeat. Herded on to a train bound for Auschwitz, in an act of desperation she entrusts her most precious possession to a stranger. All she has left now is hope.

What a book, I absolutely loved it. An ingenious plot, wonderful believable characters and it moved me to tears. A fabulous read' Lesley Pearse While Paris Slept originates in Paris during the Second World War, moving on to both Paris and California in the 1950s. It is a harrowing and extremely moving tale of the horrors of war and the strength of parental love. A fascinating take on WW2, and the Nazi occupation, and how families move on from the trauma they experienced. The second half of the book is the most intense, as the tension builds and the heartbreaking choices that Jean Luc and Sarah must make become all too real. Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions as you follow their journey and the sacrifices they make for each other.
